A little bit of England

I have just watched My Boy Jack.  A really fantastic film based off of a touching poem by Rudyard Kipling after the death of his son:

"HAVE you news of my boy Jack? "
Not this tide.
"When d'you think that he'll come back?"
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.
"Has any one else had word of him?"
Not this tide.
For what is sunk will hardly swim,
Not with this wind blowing, and this tide.
"Oh, dear, what comfort can I find?"
None this tide,

Nor any tide,

Except he did not shame his kind---
Not even with that wind blowing, and that tide.
Then hold your head up all the more,

This tide,

And every tide;

Because he was the son you bore,

And gave to that wind blowing and that tide.
In other news, it seems even Americans have now caught wind of the lunacy that is Mr. Kenneth Tong.  What is he on about!?  I skimmed through his prejudiced and deluded tweets and saw that prior to January 1st, he seemed to have no agenda or campaign.  Although he claims his tweets are not a publicity stunt, I'd be shocked to find that it is not all in the least bit an effort to garner attention.

I don't know whether Twitter or anyone can shut him up or shut him down, but I do think it's important to let the young and impressionable know that his is only one (unusual) opinion and to be "successful" does not mean being thin, skipping meals or dating celebrities.  Telling females that to be fat is to be a failure is just one thing, but he has crossed his wires and lauded other unsafe behaviors.  His campaign must not be given any legitimacy ... and maybe, finding himself deprived of an audience and a voice, he will stop the madness.
