A song that is a guilty pleasure

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Oh, everything I like is someone else's "guilty pleasure". I like pop music, and the more bubblegum, the more I love it. So there are plenty of songs for this category, though I don't feel guilty about any of it.

But this one is almost embarrassing for me to talk about ... Aaron Carter.  He really can't sing much better than the next person, but once upon a time he was blessed with good genes and a brother who could sing.  Still, this song never fails to make me want to dance:

"Saturday Night", Aaron Carter

[Edit, 11:55pm // I just listened to this in its entirety for the first time in maybe 5 or 6 years.  It's horrible.  It could've been okay if anyone else had been singing it, but his voice is terrible on it.  Not even worthy of a guilty pleasure!]

I also enjoy some Ashlee Simpson, Michelle Branch, One Direction, Justin Bieber ("Somebody to Love"!) and "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus.

Maybe I'm a little embarrassed about liking some of the Jonas Brothers' music. This is my favorite, of the songs I've heard:

"Invisible", Jonas Brothers (from JONAS) (so I'm not really sure it's one of THEIR songs)

And since I "discovered" the New Kids On The Block a few days ago, I've been dancing around the house singing this one:

"Step By Step", New Kids On The Block

I don't believe in guilty pleasures. Enjoy your pleasures guilt-free -- life is too short to worry about what others think of you!  (As I shamelessly return to watching the third season of The Surreal Life.)
