A song that makes you feel guilty

"Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)", Baz Luhrmann

The older I get, the more everything in this song seems to reveal itself as truth.  And I feel bad for not having paid closer attention to the advice.

According to this song, I need to move to Northern California.  And replenish my SPF moisturizer -- thanks for the reminder, Baz.

"Something's Missing", John Mayer

This song is not in and of itself bad or guilt-inducing, but I constantly associate it with a certain bus ride I took through Cambridge, MA and Boston to my final destination not far away. It was just before everything I thought would never happen happened, and I was deeply unhappy but didn't realize the extent of my unhappiness. Towards the end of the song, John sings off a checklist of things he has and during that bus ride, I realized that I didn't have any of the things he had and I felt incredibly, incredibly empty. I know the point of the song is to say that you can have it all and still feel you don't have what you're looking for, but you can imagine what an already unhappy girl who had NONE of what he had must've felt like! Something was absolutely missing. It wasn't fixed and still hasn't been, but not long after the bus ride, I found someone who served momentarily as a happy distraction.

The song still depresses me (it makes me feel guilty in that it seems everyone else has found what they are looking for except for me, which I know isn't the case at all); I'm still looking for those missing pieces.
