A song you know all the words to

Saturday, February 05, 2011

I had to really think hard about this one.  There aren't too many songs that I still remember all the words to ... sure, back in the day when I was a huge Backstreet Boys fan, I probably knew 80% of all the lyrics to all their songs, but those days are mostly over.  (I think I probably still know all the words to "I'll Never Break Your Heart", though that was never a favorite of mine.)

Other songs I know all the words to are songs I listened to throughout my childhood and have somehow ingrained into my memory forever.

"No Ordinary Love", Jennifer Love Hewitt

I coveted Jennifer Love Hewitt's first American album so badly ... I'd been a big fan of hers since her Kids Incorporated days and was so excited to see (hear) more of her singing and less of her acting. My father bought this album for me after a school entrance exam, and I listened to it pretty much every day between January and September of that year. As a result, I cannot for the life of me forget the lyrics to this song, the first song I'd heard off the album. Many years later, I still listen to it from time to time and value it as a really great 90s pop album. Quality stuff.

Other songs:
"Use Somebody", Kings of Leon
"Back to You", John Mayer
"Fields of Gold", Eva Cassidy variation
"Need You Now", Lady Antebellum
"Teenage Dream", Katy Perry
"I'll Be Home For Christmas"
"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", Bing Crosby
