A song you love to sing in the shower
Monday, November 28, 2011Pretty much whenever I'm at home, I sing in the shower. I even sing whenever I use one particular bathroom in my house. I'm sort of conditioned to sing in these places, and it's usually whatever song is currently stuck in my song.
Although I resumed playing the cassette from where I'd left off the previous day, for some reason the song I remember singing the most was "Anytime You Need A Friend." This wasn't my favorite song off of the album -- not even close, so I have no idea why this is the song I remember the best. Maybe it has something to do with how "strong" the song is in both message and musically? I can definitely imagine 9-year-old me singing into a shampoo bottle to this.
Other songs I sang in the shower a lot when I was a pre-teen: songs (and scripts) from the show "Kids, Incorporated." I would make audio tapes of the episodes as they aired on Disney and then would play them in the shower. Mind you I only had about 6 episodes on tape, so if you were to play me certain episodes of the show today, I could probably recite the entire show to you from beginning to end, songs, script and theme song included.
Since we're on the topic of "Kids Inc," this is how I was first introduced to Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch (I think):
Simply awful. And yes, that is Momma Carol Brady.
