"Give Your Heart A Break," Demi Lovato

Another teen music star ... I stumbled across this song while I was on Vevo the other day, and I haven't been able to stop listening since. It's incredibly catchy and so familiar sounding, and the sentiment is incredibly sweet (and surprisingly novel, given all the love songs that have been written between now and the beginning of time): "Don't wanna break your heart / wanna give your heart a break" ... I mean, it's not rocket science, the lyrics, but the idea is pretty refreshing.

And after I heard this song (familiar because it wasn't actually the first time I'd heard it), I realized I had Demi Lovato's newest album on my iPod and I broke it out for the first time. Some pretty good stuff! It's pretty funny, my perspective on the music of a 19-year-old, from where I am. I remember when I was 18 and thought 20-year-old Michelle Branch's lyrics were deep ... and now looking at 19-year-old Demi's lyrics, they seem anything but. But I don't think it's her fault; I think maybe the industry now places more value on catchy, danceable tunes than anything else. And for that, she absolutely meets expectations.

Anyway, I discovered another sweet song on her "Unbroken" album, "My Love Is Like A Star" that I thought I might as well share since we're on the topic of Demi Lovato ...
