"I Just Wanna Live," Good Charlotte

My friend in Australia has been absolutely smitten with Joel Madden because she's been watching "The Voice" over there, where he's a judge/mentor. That "inspired" me to go through some of my favorite Good Charlotte songs ... I went through a phase when all I did was listen to Good Charlotte (mostly the "The Young and the Hopeless" and "The Chronicles of Life and Death" albums) because every song was one I could relate to. Kind of depressing, maybe, but there's something very soothing about some of their slower, more mellow songs.

And I also loved their singles off of their 2007 album, "Good Morning Revival," although by that point, true blue Good Charlotte fans were mighty disappointed with the trajectory their music had taken. I think they were considered sellouts at one point. But I thought their music was still pretty catchy ("Keep Your Hands Off My Girl" and "I Don't Wanna Be In Love"). I don't think I've heard anything from their latest album from 2010, though.

Anyway, here is "I Just Wanna Live," a single from 2004-2005. I remember throwing a New Year's Eve party at my house and watching the MTV countdown, where I believe this music video premiered.

The song and lyrics sort of represent the way I feel about life in Taipei right now ... or the way I want to feel. I wish those who are dipping their fingers in my pot (or my business, really) would just lay off and leave me alone to live my life.

Okay, and since I am still somewhat ashamed of my track record of teen pop songstresses, I used Good Charlotte as a (not-so-great) cover-up for the song that's really been stuck in my head these past few days ... the video's a little too ADD and psychedelic for me, but the song just won't leave me be!

And how about this video of James Franco singing along to it?
