The past week or so has been me madly trying to piece together my trip to Australia and New Zealand, which is coming up at the end of the week. There are still a few things that haven't been booked and tons of note-taking to do (addresses, bus routes, train schedules, maps) ... and I haven't even touched the eating part yet! That might have to happen off-the-cuff. Yikes!

Right now I'm not quite excited yet; I just have my nose to the grindstone. I am really looking forward to eating, though. Like, really, really looking forward to it. I don't know the numbers because I don't have access to a scale, but I'm pretty sure I've lost weight since I've been here. Maybe 5 pounds, and I blame that solely on the fact that I have zero access to decent Mexican food. I'm going to go crazy in Australia/New Zealand ... oh yeah.

Also, I finally had the chance to slow down a bit this week and catch up on my Google Reader. Among my favorite reads were:

"The Last City I Loved: Paris, France," by Rebekkah Dilts
A beautifully written love story about Paris and its humanity

+ "Cuckoo," by Kathryn Schulz
"Social jet lag," circadian rhythms and internal clocks

+ "Becoming Obama," by David Maraniss
A look at Obama as a twentysomething

... it's gonna be a ker-azy week!
