Four (but really Six, so that averages out to Five) Things

Sunday, December 09, 2012

It's been a while since I've done a "top five" kind of post. This time of year tends to remind me to be thankful for what I have, though that should be a year-round thing, really. In any case, these are some of my favorite things right now ... most of them are television or internet-related.

"Rolling in the Deep" cover by Carly Rose Sonenclar
Although I don't particularly like the idea of 13-year-old Carly Rose as a pop star or any sort of public figure, I can't stop tuning into "The X Factor" to see how she interprets another song. This past week, she did "As Long As You Love Me" by Justin Bieber and "If I Were A Boy" by Beyonce, neither of which I thought were outstanding. But her cover last week of "Rolling in the Deep," which I thought would put her in dangerous waters for certain, was incredible.

Dalia Royce of "Suburgatory"

If you've ever watched "Suburgatory" on ABC, you know how ridiculous some of the characters are. In fact, I think the only "normal" characters are main characters George, his daughter Tessa, her mother Alix and Tessa's friend Malik. One of my favorite characters, in spite (or perhaps because) of her utter vacuity and superficiality, is airhead Dalia Royce, played by Carly Chaikin. Hands down Dalia gets the best lines of all. Here is her latest Christmas exploit:

An "official" version of Dalia's "viral video" can be viewed here, in much higher quality.
But this scene from season one is my absolute favorite, when Dalia has an incredibly intricate and well-thought out monologue of an evil plan:

Baby animal videos
I waste a lot of time every week watching videos of cute babies and cute animals. Here are two videos of cute (sleeping!) baby animals.

Sophia Grace and Rosie
I'm sure you've seen these little English girls around. At their best, they're hilariously and accidentally precocious, and at their worst, they're downright annoying (particularly Sophia Grace). Here they are at their best, particularly Sophia Grace.

    1. Sophia Grace is such a handful and so precocious! I can't imagine what she'll be like when she grows up haha ... I thought this Sophia Grace & Rosie video was pretty cute (especially when they jump into singing towards the end): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIIhOLOJNQ0
