Music Monday: Lucy Rose

Happy Monday everyone (or to those of you for whom it is still Monday) ... similarly, Happy Tax Day! (Not.) The one thing I love about Mondays is that I always know what I'm going to be writing about. I love whoever came up with the concept of Music Mondays.

So I've had this artist on my iPod and computer for a while, but I hadn't listened to more than a song or two of hers until recently. Naturally, I found that I really, really liked her music.

I think if you give Lucy Rose a 30-second listen, you'll know that she's English. She has a Joni Mitchell look going for her, and her music is singer-songwriter-y with an occasional dip into the folk pool. To me, she does the English singer-songwriter thing without sounding pretentious or derivative like so many manage to do. I don't know too much else about her, but I did discover that she sold her own blend of tea called "Builder Grey" instead of music or merchandise at her shows! That's pretty rock star of her, in a very prim and English way.
