C.O. Bigelow Cinnamint Mentha Lip Shine Project Pan Bath and Body Works
It looks like I'm going to actually make it through all of the lip products on my 2013 Project Pan list! I actually had two C.O. Bigelow Cinnamint Lip Shines to work through this year, and it was a tedious task. The 0.5 ounce tube, which can be purchased from Bath and Body Works, never seems to end.

It goes without saying, then, that I'm not a huge fan of the C.O. Bigelow Cinnamint Mentha Lip Shine. There was a time in about 2009 when it was all I used to moisturize and dress up my lips. I look to multipurpose products simply because I can't be bothered to reapply multiple products every day. Ideally, I could find a product that required no reapplication, but I haven't been so lucky as to stumble upon that product just yet. (Have you?)

The lip shine is incredibly thick and, like most lip glosses (which is exactly what it is), very sticky. C.O. Bigelow makes a number of different lip shine flavors but Cinnamint, as you might have already guessed, is a sort of Red Hots cinnamon flavor, with no color. I liked this product, along with the regular peppermint-flavored Mentha lip shine, at the time because it was so thick that it stayed put for hours, gave decent moisturization, freshened my lips, and gave the impression that I had put some effort into my look.

The product claims to soften and protect the lips, and leave a cooling sensation. All claims are accurate. It moisturizes quite well. Better, in fact, than many petroleum-free lip balms and salves I've used. But that's one of the problems -- the C.O. Bigelow lip shine lists "petrolatum" as its second ingredient. Petrolatum is basically petroleum jelly and, as I've mentioned before, it's just not good for you.

For $7.50, it's definitely not cheap, but Bath and Body Works is always running a buy 2 get 1 free sale. I did find that as the lip shine aged, it took on a kind of odd smell, like crayons. (But I kept forging on with it.) Overall, it's a decent product if you're not concerned about petroleum in your beauty products. It's a multi-tasker that actually performs, and it lasts a long time.
