Final Update: Project Pan 2013

Sunday, January 05, 2014

2013 saw the very first of my attempts at a Project Pan which, if you don't know, is a concerted effort to use up certain beauty products you may have lying around. I especially needed to clear my shelves out because I am, apparently, the Queen of Hoarders when it comes to haircare and beauty products, and found some beauty products I'd been holding onto since 2003. Yes, for ten years. Also, I started reading more about the chemicals that go into common bath and beauty products, and I've been making an effort to get rid of these chemical-laden products and look into buying more natural products.

So without further ado, let's see how I fared.

Here is the original post with all of the products on my Project Pan 2013 list. I gave myself from April through December to use these products up.

LIP BALMS, ETC.
I was surprised to find how much more product some of these held than it appeared! I ended up really liking the Nivea lip balm, though I ended up losing it ... sad face.
+ The Body Shop Born Lippy in Unbridled Passionberry
+ Philosophy Kiss Me lip balm
+ Crazy Rumors lip balm in Raspberry Sherbet (review)
+ C.O. Bigelow Cinnamint Mentha lip shine x2 (review)
+ Nivea Milk and Honey lip balm

LOTIONS
The lotion category surprised me most of all. I finished all of these up months ahead of time, and I'd thought I wouldn't be able to finish them. I've become pretty careful about moisturizing immediately after washing my hands, since my hands are always so dry.
+ Bath and Body Works Cotton Blossom lotion (review)
+ Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint lotion
+ Bath and Body Works Iced Tea Twist lotion
+ Bath and Body Works White Citrus lotion
+ Lush Fair Trade Foot Lotion (review)
+ Neutrogena Norwegian Hand Cream (review)

SHAMPOOS
I really failed in the hair care category, as you will soon see. Never again will I buy a 25.4 ounce bottle of shampoo without knowing that I LOVE the product.
+ Aussie Sun-Touched Shine shampoo (review)
+ Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Creme shampoo
+ Nexxus Therappe shampoo

CONDITIONERS
+ Klorane Mango Butter conditioner (review)
+ Dove Damage Therapy Revival Pomegranate conditioner

BODY WASHES
+ Bath and Body Works Hello Sugar! "Shower Sugar"
+ Bath and Body Works Spiced Apple Rapture body wash

LEAVE-IN HAIR PRODUCTS
I failed miserably in this category. I was only able to finish about half of the products, which means I will have to face some of these products for yet another year. Hair products, apparently, are my biggest weakness when it comes to impulse buys.
+ Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Smoothing Milk (review)
+ Herbal Essences Smoothing Creme x 1.5
+ Aquair Deep Moist Hair Treatment Cream
+ Bumble and Bumble Grooming Creme

BODY SPRAYS
I have quite a large collection of body sprays that I am only now allowing myself to let go of. I view scent as a huge sensory reminder of the past, so I'm pretty sentimental about fragrances.
+ Bath and Body Works Mango Mandarin travel-sized body spray
+ Dove Go Fresh Energizing Grapefruit & Lemongrass body mist

FACE WASHES & SCRUBS
+ Neutrogena Oil-Free Grapefruit Cleanser (review)
+ Wild Ferns Manuka Honey Exfoliating Facial Scrub (review)
+ Kanebo Naive face wash

CANDLES
I ended up exchanging my Autumn Day candle for another candle, so that one's off my list.
+ Bath and Body Works Slatkin & Co. Beach Cabana 3-wick candle (review)

Excluding the Autumn Day candle, I had a total of 30 products on my Project Pan 2013 list. I used up 25. Not too bad, I guess. I could've fared worse. Next up, Project Pan 2014!
